Becoming a new mother and learning to care for a new baby can be overwhelming enough. Caring for yourself and your own needs, particularly the needs of your body, can feel nearly impossible. Our expert clinicians are here to help you thrive in motherhood, develop a cohesive relationship to your changing body, and build confidence and assertiveness for achieving your goals.

Sanative Counseling and Wellness Center is offering a four-week online program to help you learn how to build the skills you need for attunement and self-advocacy in motherhood. This offering is CANCELLED.

1-hour duration each week
$159 total cost $139* Early-bird special!

Our expert clinicians provide a safe, supportive environment for a small group of participants who will engage in guided discussions that explore body image and develop skills for self-advocacy.

This workshop is a self-pay service and is not eligible for insurance reimbursement. However, depending on individual plan guidelines, participants may be able to submit payment for reimbursement through a flexible spending account (FSA) or health savings account (HSA). We encourage participants to verify eligibility with their plan administrator. Full payment is expected to participate prior to the first session. Payment plans are available upon request.

Who Should Attend

This workshop is intended for postpartum mothers who:

  • Have given birth in the last 12-18 months and are aged 18+
  • Are open to learning from groups (10-12 participants) and engaging in vulnerable discussions
  • Have interest in exploring the influence of societal, cultural, and personal standards on mothers
  • Are looking for strategies to cultivate a supportive body image

What You'll Learn

Through guided discussions, reflective exercises, and empowering activities, you will:

  • Learn how to rewrite your body story as a new mom
  • Process thoughts and emotions in a supportive environment
  • Practice tools for cultivating a mindset of self-acceptance and self-advocacy

How You'll Participate

Each session will include:

  • Grounding exercises like gentle movement and breathwork
  • Shared learning: information and support for coping with unsupportive thoughts and feelings, cultural influences, and body comments
  • Activities including how to set and achieve goals for yourself and addressing societal messages about postpartum bodies
  • Take-home reflections: Journal exercises to integrate what you learned in session

Expert Clinicians Guiding Your Growth

Aliyan Armstead, LMHC, is a trauma-informed therapist and body image group facilitator who is passionate about helping people feel more connected, confident, and at home in their bodies. She blends mindfulness, somatic tools, and gentle skills-based work to create supportive, down-to-earth spaces where people can show up exactly as they are. Aliyan’s style is warm, authentic, and engaging—inviting clients to grow at a pace that feels safe and sustainable.

When she’s not facilitating, you’ll probably find her on a long walk with a good playlist, creating, or enjoying time with family and friends.

Mary Dustin, LMHC, CMPC, is a counselor and body image group facilitator who is passionate about helping people feel more at ease in their bodies and their lives. Her style is warm, creative, and often infused with humor because sometimes the best way to do hard work is with a little lightness. Mary blends psychology, intuitive eating ideas, and mind-body tools to create supportive, down-to-earth spaces where people can show up exactly as they are. Outside of sessions, you’ll probably find her doing something outdoorsy, making something crafty, or hunting down her next great cup of specialty coffee.
